On March 1, 2010, it was posted on the Endometriosis Research Center's facebook page that Vera Rodrigues overdosed in order to end her suffering. She's currently in a coma.
That same day, three hours later, Kristi's story was shared on facebook. I reposted it this morning - so her life and struggle is being talked about again even as Vera lies in a coma.
I really want to know how many of us have left the game. This is as big an issue as the disease itself. I want to hear the stories of those left behind. I want to create a living memorial on my website for Kristi and all of our other fallen sisters. I want women contemplating the reset button to really see what it does to those we leave behind.
I want this to be an open dialogue. I would be lying if I said I had never contemplated suicide to end my suffering. I have stage III endometriosis, and have been in severe pain every month for the last 24-25 years. I have dark days - we all do.
Please read Kristi's story. Please send your thoughts out to her mom as she is about honor her daughter's one year memorial. Please send your thoughts out to Vera and her family.
I had never thought to google "endometriosis and suicide" but I will find some time to do that and post to my endo blog what I can on the subject.
Love to all of us, my sisters.
March 4, 2010 update: Vera woke sometime between Sunday and Tuesday! She is at home recovering, based upon her recent facebook postings. Lots of love and support to Vera.
