Pain relief!

I just wanted to share this coincidence.

I've been in horrible pain for a year since I had my IUD put in. I mean excruciating, intolerable pain. My doctors checked my Mirena multiple times and said it looked fine, etc. One advised me not to remove it, because the pain likely wouldn't get better. (I have stage IV endo.)

So related to another serious health issue (I have CREST/scleroderma) I ended up in the hospital with a minor heart problem. My cardiologist put me on metoprolol, which happens to stop smooth muscle spasms. I'm on it for arrhythmia.

Since the metoprolol, I've had a 95 % reduction in my endo pain. It's not a coincidence. It's too incredible not to share.

Anyone ever have this experience?

Very interesting. Oddly enough, I just got put on toprol xl(long acting metoprolol) so I will certainly keep an eye on things!

I had kind of the same experience. Had my 3rd lap in 2012, and the doctor said I don't see any endo. Sent me on my way without anything. My pCP said here, let me try you on this, and gave me a prescription for hyoscyamine, a medication used to treat bowel and bladder spasms. Since then, zero pain unless I have a period and that period pain is much more tolerable. I asked why it helped and she said sometimes if a woman is having bowel and/or bladder spasms, it can trigger spasms in the surrounding organs and tissue, thus creating the endo pain. I have been really pleased and everyone I meet with endo I let them know this might be an option.

I've had that to treat bowel spasms, it really helped my endo pain as well.

I'm not familiar with the drug but thanks for sharing! I'm looking for a non-narcotic option to relieve my endo. I miraculously had a baby after 6 years of struggle, but I have a feeling endo will be back with a vengeance and I don't want to rely on the narcotics to get me through the day anymore.

Keep us posted on this interesting find! And congrats, that's such wonderful news for you!

Note: went off narcotics during pregnancy, don't want to go through that again!
