Uninsured with severe pain. Help!!!!

So excited to join this community, share and learn so much!

Here are my symptoms:
*chronic pelvic & back pain
* diarreah
*vomitting/nausea
* heavy bleeding/clots
*pain during sex
*gas
*joint pain
*pain when urinating

I am 24 years old and I have been suffering with endo for 13 long years! In the past none of my doctors took the time to do ultrasounds or blood work. I went on a birth control patch when I was 13 years old but had to stop because it did not help the pain. I then went on Seasonale and had great results with less bleeding/pain and only 4 cycles a year. I had to stop that pill because my hair fell out. After that I stopped BC and stuck to pain meds.

At 17 years old I lost my insurance and no longer could afford my meds. I would then have to go to the ER if I could not control the pain, vommitting and pelvic pain with over the counter drugs. I am still uninsured and thinking of having a lap surgery done to decrease my pain...possibly and finally get a diagnosis. Only issue is I have to apply for financial assistace from my local county hospital..Grady. I also have to see a primary care doctor before they can refer me to a OB/GYN. That alone is a bummer because that could take weeks and lots of $$$.

So frustrating dealing with doctors that only see $$$ and not a person in pain!!! I feel like this surgery is my last option to feel like a normal woman. A chance to not spend days in bed and a chance to be active again! My fiance tries to be understanding but she just cant imagine my pain so its hard. If anyone has any suggestions I am all ears!

Oh that sounds so rough. So many of us have been there in one way or another! This community is amazing. It has been a bit quiet lately, but over the years it has made a HUGE difference in my life.

Keep posting and people will come out of the woodwork eventually! :)

I had a lap in 2006 and then did a lot of diet and alternative therapies to help maintain the work that was done. I've had very, very, very good results. I can't know for sure what to attribute the success to, and I do have ups and downs, but overall my pain has been pretty manageable. Maybe I am just lucky.

There are no right answers. You have to try things for long enough to know if they are working, and you have to trust your inner voice on what is right for your body.

Good luck!

Thank you! I have now switched to a gluten/soy/dairy free diet and hoping to see results soon! I also stopped using tampons and started using a cup which helped so much. I hope you continue to feel better!

Nice! I used a cup until my pain was too bad, then I had to stop. I guess I could try again, but I never really think of it! I cut out gluten right after my surgery. I'd never go back. I should reduce dairy more than I do...

I think I may stick to that diet for life. It hasn't really helped my pain yet but has done wonders for my random adult acne attacks!

Have you ever tried taking chaste berry (aka vitex)? I had similar issues to you- severe pain which sent me to hospital because NOTHING would touch it and I was going into shock from it, unable to tolerate the pill at all. Within one month of use I saw improvement and continue to do so. I'm now able to manage at home with prescription pain meds after being on vitex for a couple months and each month gets better. If you are not actively trying to conceive- cotton root is another option as it works to thin the lining so you have less clots, which is a lot of what causes the pain. I gave up on the medical system and tried well researched natural methods and have had a lot of success.

Thank you so much! I have not tried either of those options. I will head to search them both in a bit. I would like to go as natural as possible.
